Climbing and Paragliding Gran Paradiso, 4061m. The Aosta Valley – Italy

A couple of weeks ago I was in the Aosta Valley in Italy. The plan was to climb Monte Rosa (the highest mountain on the Swiss/Italian boarder and the second-highest in both the Alps and western Europe at 4,634m) and paraglide down from the top.

However the snow put an end to those plans. A metre fell in the days before our intended climb and although the weather cleared it was unlikely that we would make the top of the Monte Rosa with so much snow to wade through! So the morning we were due to begin our climb we changed our plans and headed down the Aosta Valley to climb Gran Paradiso instead. Click the link below to see what happened!
